About Us

Our Story

The CUI Institute (the “Institute“) was established in October 2020 as a Domestic Nonprofit Corporation with the Pennsylvania Department of State Bureau of Corporations and Charitable Organizations. The Institute is also registered with the United States Internal Revenue Service (“IRS”) as a nonprofit educational organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. 

Our Mission:

The Institute’s mission is to enhance the national security and economic security of the United States by providing trusted, nonbiased and nonpartisan education to the United States Government (the “Government“), the governments of other nations, and Government contractors about the cybersecurity-related obligations imposed by the Government on its contractors and others who handle the Government’s information.  This includes, but is not limited to, education on Federal Contract Information (“FCI“), Controlled Unclassified Information (“CUI“), implementations of the CUI program by various Government agencies, the United States Department of Defense’s (“DoD“) Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (“CMMC“) program, and cybersecurity standards and frameworks such as the National Institute of Standards and Technology’s Special Publication 800-171.

Use of Funds

Funds raised by the Institute are used to fulfill the Institute’s mission, including providing access to this website and its educational materials. As revenues increase, the Institute hopes to offer scholarships and grants to individuals pursuing cybersecurity educational programs and to provide grants to nonprofits to assist them with some of their cybersecurity-related expenses in furtherance of our national security mission.
